Do you struggle to find the motivation to accomplish tasks each day? If so, you may benefit from incorporating these five atomic habits into your life.
Atomic habits are those habits that are difficult to change once established. They are habits so ingrained in our daily lives that we don’t realize how much effort goes into maintaining them.
Implementing these habits into my life made me more productive and achieve tremendous success. They will help you succeed, too.
#1. Wake Up Early
Waking up early has been proven to improve productivity and decrease stress levels. This habit will allow you to wake up earlier without feeling groggy or sluggish.
It takes approximately 30 minutes to fully awaken after waking up early, so you won’t have to rush to complete your morning tasks.
I like to wake up around 5:00 am.
#2. Exercise Regularly
Exercise helps us to maintain an active lifestyle. Exercising regularly will burn more calories and improve your overall health.
Exercising will give you more energy throughout the day.
I never skip exercising. It is the secret of my energy. I am super productive because of it.
#3. Meditate Daily
Meditation is another effective way to improve your productivity. Meditation allows you to focus on yourself and clear your thoughts.
When you meditate, you will be able to think clearly and effectively tackle any task at hand.
I meditate as soon as I wake up. It makes my day positive and energized.
#4. Stop Distracting Yourself
Distraction is a huge problem in modern society. If you ignore your surroundings, you won’t notice that you’re missing opportunities to learn new things, grow personally, and advance professionally.
Instead, you’ll spend your entire day watching TV, playing video games, surfing the web, listening to music, talking on the phone, texting, and browsing social media.
This habit of constantly distracting yourself leads to burnout. Burnout happens when you become too tired to continue doing the same thing.
So how do you overcome this problem?
First, you need to recognize that you’re distracted. Then, you need to stop engaging in those behaviours that distract you.
For example, if you spend hours each day watching social media reels, you should reduce your screen time. Instead, you should read a book, spend time with your family, exercise, or walk outside.
You can also use the Pomodoro technique to break large projects into smaller ones. You can set a timer for 20 minutes and work on one task until it’s done. Once the timer rings, take a short break and start working on the next project.
By cutting down on your screen time, you’ll feel better and be able to concentrate on other tasks.
Here is how I avoid distractions:
- I keep notifications off.
- The phone is on silent mode when I work. It never beeps.
- I close all windows except the one I am working on.
- I sit facing a wall when I work so that people around me don’t distract me.
- Emails are off.
- I use Bose noise-cancelling headphones when I need to silence the noise outside.
#5. Take Short Breaks During Work Hours
Taking breaks during work hours is essential to becoming more productive. Taking breaks allows you to recharge your batteries and refocus on your goals.
When you feel tired, go for a walk or stretch. Meditate. Sit in silence. Close your eyes and relax. Do anything that clears your head.
I follow all these five habits.
Do you follow any of them?
What are your atomic habits?
