Diwali is a festival where all of us like to enjoy, celebrate and participate where we buy and wear new clothes, burst fire crackers, eat sweets and basically share the beauty of the day with our friends and family.
What exactly is the meaning of Diwali? It is generally believed that Diwali is a time when Narahasura was killed by the lord and therefore in celebration of the death of the asura, we celebrate the day with lights and colours. Darkness represents ignorance, light is a metaphor for knowledge. Therefore, lighting the lamp symbolizes the destruction of all negative forces like wickedness, violence, lust, anger, envy, fear, greed, injustice and suffering through knowledge.
“Nara” is body. “Aha” is insight and “Asura” is all these negative forces. So, Narahasura is not a man outside of us, he exists in us. Take this opportunity in Diwali and burn all your negative forces with the almighty force that exist within you. Let us celebrate Diwali by becoming a wiser, healthier, and peaceful human being.
May the almighty force shower you with good health, long life, enough wealth, peace, prosperity, fame and wisdom.
Have a great day.
